It is official. We are settled into our new house. I can never feel at home until I can remember where the measuring cups are and how to open each kitchen cabinet from the correct side. No, they do NOT have handles. The kids like having their own playroom downstairs and no longer need to run upstairs every 5 minutes to make sure I am still here. Ben has been tinkering around in the garage even if it is exceptionally chilly outside. He is excited about finding the time after the holiday/peak season to arrange his tool bench. The only word that I can find to describe our Christmas is "quiet." While this is the first holiday we have celebrated together in 10 months, it was strange. Nice, but strange. Presents opened, gift wrap cleaned up, recycling taken out, lunch made, and cleaned up, toys put away and then what? Ben played Super Scrabble with me while the kids rode 40 miles on their new bikes and we talked about what else to do with our day. Usually, I feel like I need a week to recover from Christmas day but not this year. It wasn't boring, or incredibly lonely - just different. And quiet.
We hope you had a fabulous holiday and we hope to see you all soon!
