4th of July

Last year, the kids and I spent the 4th of July at the Atlantic Ocean. This year we spent the day at the Pacific Ocean.
We went to Rialto Beach and hiked a 3 mile loop to Hole In The Wall. We started our hike at low tide so that the kids could play in the tidal pools. It was a sunny, but breezy 60 degrees.

After the beach On our way back from Hole In The Wall, the tide was coming in and the water was very rough. We warned the kids to stay away because the water was so strong. Steitler was looking at a rock, with his back to the water as a huge wave knocked him on his face. I was 2 steps away from him but the wave pulled him out so fast that by the time I got to him, I was in over my knees. He was slightly traumatized but now has a very healthy respect for the ocean. He was soaking wet and was wearing denim shorts so every step he took was chapping his legs. He was scared and in pain which is the only reason that he got this sweet ride for the last mile of our hike.

Music in the Park

This is a cute picture of Maddie and Ben. Notice the 4 people in the background, they are our new "friends." We sat by them last week and they were very nice and loved watching the kids play. They are all retired from various parts of the country.

Trespasser

Maddie found this snake in the garage today. She was not thrilled.

Warmer

It was 70 degrees here today! To celebrate, we turned on the yard sprinkler system and the kids had fun but the water was still rather chilly.

Saturday

Ben found these orange lockers at a bowling alley that was going out of business. He wanted to repaint them and have them for his employees to use so we spent Saturday making the lockers a little more presentable.
