Overheard

Aunt Em: You are still in your pajamas?!

Maddie: Yes.

Aunt Em: What kind of pajamas are you wearing?

Maddie: I'm wearing gray pants and a t-shirt. My shirt has a smiley face, and some flowers and a circle with a chicken foot inside it on the front.

Igloo/ Treasure Island

Maddie insists this is an igloo while Steitler says it is Treasure Island. Either way - this fort has given Ben the title : Dad of the year.

The Refuge

This was one of the ducks - or maybe geese?- that we saw diving down under the water

Hurricane Ridge

We tried to go up to Hurricane Ridge this morning but the Ridge was filled to capacity. We did not drive the Land Rover and snow tires were required. We turned around and went to the Refuge instead.

This is at an overlook on the way to Hurricane Ridge.

Saturday

Our view of Mount Baker today Steitler shooting hoops
Ben and I were cleaning in the garage when we heard a scratchy sound on the driveway. I turned around just in time to see Maddie land in this bush.
Did I ever tell you about the time I fell off my bike into the holly bush at the end of my parent's driveway?

Wednesday

The kids and I went to the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. We hiked to the Dungeness Spit and played on the beach.
The Dungeness Lighthouse - a 5 mile walk down to the tip of the Spit. If you look closely, you can see a white splash in the sky above the lighthouse - that is Mt. Baker.
We passed this deer grazing on the side of the road to the Refuge.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!

Monday and Tuesday

Maddie and Steitler made a new friend on Monday. Lauren came over for dinner and ice cream. Tuesday was spent playing in the snow while I shoveled/scraped the driveway - for the first time ever.

Oven

This lovely oven was purchased at the Olympic Theatre on Saturday. It is functional for making lots of pretend cookies and brings back fond memories of this.
